Choosing SD Cards and Power for REVEAL Cameras

by Advanced Night Vision on October 07, 2026

The right memory card and power accessory depend on the exact camera model. Start with the name on the camera and its manual before ordering a card, battery cartridge or solar panel.

Check the card format, capacity and speed

The REVEAL X 3.0 and Pro 3.0 manuals specify an optional full-size Class 10, U3 SD card with 16GB or 32GB capacity. Both models have internal storage, so a card is an additional storage option rather than a universal requirement for every camera.

  • Physical format: choose the full-size card specified for these models. Do not substitute a microSD card and adapter based only on capacity.
  • Capacity: a larger card is not automatically compatible. Stay within the model's stated range.
  • Speed: check both Class 10 and U3 markings. A Class 10 label alone does not confirm U3 compatibility.
  • Model differences: DEFEND 360 does not use an SD card. Do not buy a REVEAL card expecting it to fit that camera.

Manufacturer support pages can cover several generations. When a general article conflicts with a model-specific manual, verify the exact requirement with the manufacturer before purchasing.

Prepare a card before deployment

Save any photos you want to keep before formatting: formatting erases the card. Follow the camera's own formatting procedure, check that the write-protect switch is unlocked and take a test photo. If an error persists, record the card's brand, capacity and speed markings when contacting support.

Match the entire power system

A battery pack, charger and solar panel must match the camera generation and connection. Confirm the accessory's model compatibility, required voltage and connector before use. Similar-looking plugs or brand names alone do not prove compatibility.

The REVEAL solar-panel manual recommends keeping supported batteries installed in the camera when using the panel, because solar input may not keep up during heavy use. Follow the manual for your exact panel and camera combination; do not assume a panel charges the batteries inside every camera.

Your pre-installation checklist

  • Exact camera model and generation recorded.
  • Compatible card installed and tested, if used.
  • Approved batteries or cartridge charged or installed correctly.
  • Panel, cable and charger compatibility confirmed.
  • Test image received before the camera is left on site.
